Okay, I'm new to this. I will just try my best. Forgive me. I probably wont write as much as most of you on here. I was listening to this song today, it made me think of myself and my dad. I grew up being “ daddy's girl” or sometimes known as “ my daddy's best son” (I'll explain that in a bit.) I was adopted into a family of all boys, therefore I was the only girl as well as the youngest. I was spoiled by my dad, also known "Rat". Anywhoo, it all started when I was coming home from Washington state to here in Minnesota, coming off that plane with my aunt ( now my mother) carrying me to my uncle (now my father). I was just a little over one. I somewhat remember my daddy grabbing a hold of me and taking me to the nearest restaurant which happened to be good ol' Mc a dee's. I not only ate my kids meal but i also ate part of my dad's burger. Since then I have always been by my dad's side. Growing up being by my dad, I have learned a good deal of things, such as how curse, work on vehicles, shoot a gun, use a knife, learn to survive in the woods, never to bring home the "punks" and just recently (my favorite) that everyone are A-holes and all for themselves, that's the way you should be too! My dad always was doing something. He was always on his feet. Back in the day he use to bring home, as I like to call them, ”junkers” (most of the time old Chevys). He would fix them up to make 'em unique or different. My brothers were always in the house, usually playing on the newest video game system they got. Well, I would always run outside to help my dad work on the trucks he would bring home (though, honestly, it was to avoid cleaning the house). Anywhoo, I started learning about tools- what is used where, so on so forth. I got fascinated by all the neat parts. I would start going outside more and more helping my dad work on those trucks since i was about the age of eight. Eventually gaining the name " best son" still stuck with me until this day. I'm damn proud of it. He had always told me as a child don't ever let no one push you around. Now that I'm all grown-up and out of high school, he said ”I have supported you for eighteen years it's time for you to start thinking about what you want in life and get it done. I don't mind you living under my roof if you got something going for yourself. You need to get yourself a job, join the military, or go to college." I remember those words like it were yesterday. Now, doing lots of research and knowing I did not have the best grades, I thought for the longest time I was going to follow in his footsteps and join the Marines (Whoo-raw!) but after hearing many stories and talking to dad, he told me the Marines are not for women and to join the Army, Navy, or Air-Force, they will treat you well. Putting that to thought I starting applying to colleges, With luck i got accepted into a community college- RCTC (Rochester Community and Technical College) to be exact. I'm now going there to pursue a degree in web design.
Thanks "Rat" for being the perfect daddy and always being there for me.
I love you a lot <3
