10 November 1775 in Philadelphia at the Tun Tavern the Marine Corps was born.
10 November 1969 Christopher Earley (shlepcar) was supposed to be born. He waited until 13 November to come into this world. If he had been born on 10 November, you would know him as “Smedley”. I would have named him after Marine two-time Medal of Honor Awardee, Brigadier General Smedley Darlington Butler, one of my heroes!!!
Smedley knew when he was getting used. He wrote, “I spent 33 years in the Marines, most of my time being a high-class muscle man for big business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for Capitalism - for War is a racket.”
Smedley knew big business and the oil Companies WERE ENRICHING THEMSELVES by using the US Marines as their Bully Boys. Why don't those damned oil companies fly their own flags on their personal property- maybe a flag with a gas pump on it. Brig Gen Smedley D. Butler. 1937. The times we live in now are similar to what he wrote about- the “Bonus” march, the Depression, the Right Wing hatred of Roosevelt, like they hate Obama!!!
Anyhoo, Smedley wrote a few articles followed by a book called “War is a Racket”.
Back to how Chris could have been Smedley. I named my first born Christopher George- Christopher after a Marine Friend, and George after my Father! Chris said he was real happy not to have been born on the Marine Corps birthday. Happy Birthday OLD MAN!!!...
